Future Echoes – 03 November 2009

Thought I would put up some of the latest stories as we’ve had a bit of a content drought recently. Normally service may be resumed soon.

iTunes Subscription Service – This is it, the one we’ve been waiting for. There could finally be a reason to buy an Apple TV. Buy your music, get TV on subscription and rent films, it works for me. I think that the TV companies will go for it as well because they won’t see it as a complete threat to broadcast TV, they may see it as more of a monetized Hulu. Thats if we’re still watching TV and not shooting terrorists…

Modern Warfare 2 is out on the 10th – The biggest media launch of the year. If this is anything like the first one it will be another step for games as a credible alternative to films in the entertainment world. Remember the suspense when you crawled through Chernobyl in the Ghillie suit or the excitement of storming the missile base? Who needs Bond when you can do the shooting yourself.

Ares Launch
– Ares finally had a test launch last week. Now we just have to wait to see whether Obama wants to pay for it.

Droid – The Motorola Droid has been getting a lot of press attention. I can’t help but think its just another option IF you don’t want an iPhone rather than a fully fledged alternative. Stop playing catch up phonetards and make something different!

Google Sat Nav – One of the new features on the Droid that does deserve a little attention. Watch out TomTom. If Google ever make this thing with locally stored maps rather than streaming they could do some real damage.
