Carpool Electric RAV 4 – Watched an interesting video that Thomas sent me from the excellent Robert Llewellyn’s Car Pool podcast. Its about a guy who has spent the last few years driving around Santa Monica in his electric Rav4. The car is a pure battery plug in and has run faultlessly for around 70,000 miles. It is very interesting to listen to how the nuances of a battery car have fit into this owners lifestyle. It makes you wonder whether battery cars might be the best solution for all of us given a bit of technological progress and some changes on our part.
Apple buys LaLa – The big Apple news this week is that they have bought a music streaming site. What are they going to do with it? It would be good to see a streaming service, I just hope that this links up with those TV and Film streaming rumours and the whopping great data centre that Apple are building to create a full on Apple powered media service.
Space ship two - Branson has rolled out the mothership (WhiteKnight 2) that will take SpaceShip Two up to 50,000 feet when Virgin Galactic opens for business in 2012. I read an interesting article in Wired UK about it last night as well. I would love to go on this if I ever have that kind of money to play with.
Wave Power - The BBC have a report about experiments to test methods of harnessing wave power. I think this is a very underrated technology that could fulfill a lot of our renewable energy needs. It seems to have more potential than wind power if someone can develop a suitable design of turbine.
